Decaf - Indonesia | Ethica Coffee Roasters

A smooth, rounded Indonesian decaf from the Sumatra region, with the depth and earthiness Sumatran coffees are famous for, decaffeinated using the all-natural Swiss Water Process to keep every nuance intact.

Tasting notes: Dark chocolate, pecan, dried fruit. Heavy body, smooth low-acid mouthfeel, lingering sweetness.

Origin: Sumatra, Indonesia. Mixed varietals from smallholder farms across the region. Sumatran coffees are characterized by their full body and earthy depth, the result of the traditional wet-hulled processing common to the region — even decaffeinated, those structural qualities come through powerfully in the cup.

Process: Swiss Water Process. Beans are hydrated to expand them, then introduced to Green Coffee Extract concentrated solution of coffee solubles. Caffeine leaves the bean by osmosis while the desired flavour compounds remain locked in. Carbon filters strip the caffeine from the GCE, and the cycle continues. The result: clean, gentle decaffeination that preserves the bean's character.
